Germany
Every institution within the German University System recognizes AP Exam grades in the admissions process.
AP students are encouraged to apply to universities in Germany. Institutions within the Federal Republic of Germany will grant admission to any candidate with a high school diploma who also submits four or five AP Exams in specified subjects, each with a grade of 3 or higher. The candidate's high school diploma must contain at least 16 academic units including English, second language studies, social studies, mathematics, and science. The course of study for which the candidate applies determines the AP Exams required.
Admission to courses of study in the humanities, the social sciences, law, and economics offered by universities within Germany requires four AP Exams, each with a grade of 3 or higher, in the following content areas:

- Two AP Exams within the English content area and/or the world languages content area (unless the candidate is fluent in German, AP German Language is recommended.)

- One additional AP Exam within any content area
To determine which exams qualify for a content area requirement, see the Content Areas & Exams chart below.
If a candidate for admission meets the above criteria, the German University System recommends acceptance to the university.
German applicants with a high school diploma other than the Abitur (Gymnasium diploma) should choose a world language exam other than AP German Language.
In addition, all institutions within the German University System accept a grade of 3 or higher on the AP German Language Exam as sufficient proof of knowledge of German for admission to a course of study.
Students intending to enroll at a university in Germany must submit an application that includes certified copies of the following documents:
- Official AP Grade Report
- High school diploma
- Transcript of records with all relevant course subjects, credits, and cumulative grade point average (if GPA is not included within the official transcript, please enclose supplementary certification on high school letterhead)

AP Exams are considered within the applicant's complete academic transcript.
